Light and Dark is my most recent project, aptly named as this is the relationship I hope to explore. My interest spans from various curatorial encounters I've had over the years with old, dingy yet rich in character kind of spaces. This has led me to draw right back to capturing the essence of the atmosphere created purely by the interplay of light and shadow. Currently my inspiration comes from observing the theatrical settings of early hammer horrors films, where there is a sense of the real and the artificial created by the camera. This is an ongoing project, and will continue to build and evolve over time.

These drawings were created over a 3 year period during my time at University, where I first discovered my interest in the natural and man made elements of decay and beauty in my surrounding environments of both Surrey and London. Through the process of experimentation these drawings explore various ways of deconstructing the urban landscape; transforming buildings, walls, rivers and the natural elements into something far greater than their initial reason for being, in the hope of opening up the way we interpret and understand our everyday surroundings.
